We are aware that Microsoft has been encouraging everyone who has a Windows 7 or Windows 8 system to upgrade to Windows 10. In some cases, users have inadvertently agreed to the upgrade and find themselves on the new operating system. Microsoft includes a new browser in Windows 10, and some participants have had trouble connecting to the online tape group sessions with the new browser. On May 7, we began work with the book, The Altitude of Prayer. In Leave Your Nets, the book we have just completed, we had the inspiring message of Self-completeness in God and living by Grace. The Altitude of Prayer is a lovely sequel because it focuses on the practice that will help us realize that Self-completeness and live a life under Grace.
We are working with The Altitude of Prayer chapter by chapter, and for each chapter, we will hear one or more recordings that were used to prepare that chapter. The recordings used as the basis for this book are truly beautiful, and we know that you will get tremendous value from them.
Joel often advised us to take one aspect of the message and work with that one aspect for some time until we “catch the idea.” You may have heard him talk about how he spent eight months contemplating just one Bible verse, “Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils, for wherein is he to be accounted of?” (Isaiah 2:22) Our study of The Altitude of Prayer gives us the opportunity to follow this advice and focus for several months on the nature of prayer as taught in The Infinite Way.
In The Altitude of Prayer and in the classes that form its foundation, Joel teaches us how to contact the infinite Source within and rise to the highest mode of prayer. He shows us how to prepare for prayer and how to live a life of prayer throughout the day.
