Note about the Recording

In this recording, Joel references several classes that brought forth great revelations.  In the excerpt below from the transcript, in which Joel talks about those classes, we have indicated the numbers of the recordings he mentions.

“We have in, well, several of the tapes…you see, what we’re having here now is the fruitage of my whole year’s work in 1956. Everything that you have received here has been a revelation that began on a Saturday, on a Friday night, in New York City, (This is recording 138A.) while standing on a platform giving a lecture, and I was struck by lightning from inside, and out of me, without my knowledge or consent, popped this whole secret of the knowledge of good and evil. And as I stood there watching it come out of my lips, I trembled with fear for what I was saying to those people. Then I said a prayer, ‘Father, don’t let anybody here know what I’m saying or understand it.’

“And the next day I found that God had given me my wish. Not a soul came to me to tell me they heard what I said or knew. And it’s only now as they’re hearing the tape that they’re beginning to say it’s dynamite. Not a soul came to me and said that lecture was, you know, like they always do after a lecture or a class, ‘Oh that’s very good. Oh that’s wonderful. It’s the best yet.’ But you know back here it’s just lip service. Had they known what was said, they would have all fallen over in a faint, as I nearly did.

“Now, that was the beginning, and it, I think it was Saturday night, and then Sunday afternoon . . . That’s right, it was Saturday night, and then Sunday afternoon, in spite of my saying to myself when I went on the platform, ‘Behave yourself and keep that big mouth shut!’ it wouldn’t. And it came out Sunday afternoon again. (This is recording 138B.)

“Now then, I was able to behave after that until I got to Melbourne. In Melbourne we got the I, and we got is, am, and as—is, am and as. (This class includes recordings 135A through 137B. It is not clear why Joel says “until I got to Melbourne,” when the Melbourne class actually preceded the New York Class.)

“And then again, of course, Chicago, that fateful Wednesday night (This is recording 160B, “Starting the Sermon on the Mount,” which was the first recording we heard in our study program.) So forth and so on. So you’re getting the whole year’s work in capsule form here, and summed up with the ability to look back, too.”
